Globalstar-2 satellites, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, carry 16 C-band and S-band transponders and have a service life of 15 years, twice that of Globalstar's first-generation satellites.
Russia will launch on Tuesday a Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrying six Globalstar-2 telecommunications satellites from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, the Federal Space Agency Roscosmos said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. VP Joe Biden will meet with Syrian opposition leaders on Saturday in Munich, a United Nations spokesman said on Friday.

“The Joint Special Representative for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, will meet this evening with Mouaz Alkhatib, a leader of the Syrian opposition, on the margins of a security conference in Munich,” Deputy Spokesperson for UN Secretary General Eduardo del Buey told Ria Novosti newswire in New York today.
