The latest round of talks on Confidence Building Measures between Greece and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was held in Skopje on April 25, 2016, based on the agreement reached between the two Foreign Ministers in Skopje on June 24, 2015.

The talks were held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. During the discussion were raised, inter alia, the issues of the cooperation between the two ministries, bilateral dialogue on connectivity/energy, immigration, cooperation within IPA II Programs and Taiex, economy, health, culture, public administration, education and civil protection.

During the meeting was signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the University “St. Paul” of Achrida and the University of Piraeus.

It was decided that the next round of talks on MoU will take place in Athens in June 2016.

The eleven MoU, which had been announced by Nikos Kotzias and his counterpart Nikola Poposki in June, include the areas of culture, trade, investment and education, aiming to open a “trust path”, which over time will lead the two sides to the settlement of the hot issue of the name and the full restoration of good neighborliness.

According to IBNA information, the eleven MoU will expand to more in a short time. The meeting of the two delegations in Skopje ratified the quadripartite meeting held in Thessaloniki on April 21-22, since the meeting had been postponed after the incidents that took place in the buffer zone of Idomeni, with the closing of the border on the part of FYROM.
